POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Collections Specialist plays a crucial role in managing accounts receivable and ensuring the timely collection of outstanding debts.
The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and negotiation skills, a strong understanding of financial principles, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Account Management
Review and manage accounts receivable, identifying delinquent accounts.
Monitor and maintain accurate records of customer interactions and payment status.
Analyze customer payment history to determine collection strategies.
Collection Activities
Contact customers with overdue accounts via phone, email, or mail to initiate collections processes.
Negotiate payment arrangements and terms with customers, working to establish mutually beneficial solutions.
Maintain professionalism and empathy while engaging with customers to resolve payment issues.
Dispute Resolution
Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or disputes in collaboration with other departments.
Provide customers with explanations and documentation regarding outstanding balances.
Reporting and Documentation
Prepare and maintain detailed records of all collection activities.
Generate and analyze reports to track collection progress and provide insights to management.
Compliance
Ensure all collection activities comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
Stay up to date with industry best practices and regulatory changes affecting debt collection.
Other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience as a Collections Specialist or in a similar role.
Strong understanding of accounting and financial principles.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Empathy and the ability to handle difficult customer interactions with professionalism.
Proficiency in using collection software and Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards.
Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with insurance collections, especially homeowners’ insurance.
Restoration industry experience

Proficient with technology (mobile devices, computers, etc.
