POSITION TITLE: Transportation Payroll Specialist
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide payroll services for the Transportation Department.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compile and report time records.
Prepare payroll on employees.
Calculate trip tickets for payment to route drivers and extracurricular drivers except.
Prepare correspondence, memorandums, forms, and reports for department.
Compile pertinent data to prepare various required state and local reports.
Keep up-to-date files for all department employees.
Input staff information in computer.
Maintain effective rapport with department employees and general public.
Handle any problems or concerns in a prompt and courteous manner.
Calculate and track employee absences.
Must pass randomly administered drug and alcohol tests.
A refusal to take a drug and alcohol test will be considered an automatic positive.
Must be able to drive a school bus route as needed.
Maintain confidentiality.
Regular attendance.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
Secretarial experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Class B Texas Commercial driver’s license with P&S Endorsements (must obtain within 90 days of employment)
Successful completion of Texas Department of Public Safety Certification Course
Successful completion of CISD Transportation behind –the –wheel training
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Proficient typing, keyboarding, and file maintenance skills
Knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Basic math skills
Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and perform word processing (Microsoft Office)
Ability to display good telephone skills
